Tailors and Abayas
Several abayas are sewn every day in the UAE - all in different designs.
Yesterday bought an abaya in Sharjah and got the chance to chat with the tailor/salesman.
"I started as a tailor in Bangladesh when I was 16 years old. After seven years, my boss gave me the opportunity to move to Sharjah. I went here to get a higher salary. I earn a lot more here than back home in Bangladesh, but I miss my daughter. I try to go home three months at a time every two years. But I feel comfortable in Sharjah. I play cricket with my friends and I watch a lot of movies on my free time, if I'm not talking to my wife and daughter on the phone. After working five years as a tailor in Sharjah, I was promoted and I am now a salesman. I get to talk to a lot with customers. It's fun and I become happy when our customers are happy and satisfied."
